File Under: Can you feel it?
My mom's television has been dying a slow death. What pisses me off about that is the fact that the TV is maybe 5 years old. It wasn't top of the line but I expected it to last a bit longer. Anyway, it didn't and given that Z is retired and spends a lot of time at home watching TV, I can't have her without one, mainly because I don't need her hanging out in my room watching my TV when I'm not home. So instead of putting a lock on my bedroom door, I bought her a new TV tonight. I even set it up and it's working. She's now modern, she's got a 26" flat panel LCD HD television. What's funny is that it looks about the same size as the previous television and it was only 19". Needless to say she's thrilled and can't believe the picture quality.
Now I just have to haul the old one out of here.

I finally did it, and it's a big one!
File Under: Size does matter
I've been talking about it for some time, Dan and I have been discussing it recently. Saturday I finally did it. I bought a new TV. I got a Vizio 37", 1080p LCD television. I wasn't sure I'd go that big but I went to Costco and it really was the best deal.
It looks great and I love it and I'm glad I did it.

(forgive the surrounding mess)

COMPLETE
File Under: Television Faves

One of my favorite television shows, Gilmore Girls, ended last year. It ran its course, the last season just wasn't the same without the original producer at the helm. Back in November the final season was released on DVD. Best Buy had it on sale and now my collection is complete!
What remains incomplete are other favorite TV shows:
Friends - I have seasons 1-4, 6, 8 and 9. For some reason I started buying them out of order.
Will and Grace - I have seasons 1-4. I don't think they're all out yet so I'm safe.
Mad About You - I loved this show but managed to only buy season 1. I don't even know if they're all out, yet.
Seinfeld - Seasons 1 - 6 are in my collection. Almost done with that collection.
Nip/Tuck - Um...well, I wasn't really a fan of this show until I saw a clip of an episode involving a hot scene between a doctor and patient and then I knew this was a series I should own. The stories are good, the sex is really good (as far as cable goes). I have seasons 1-3. Season 3 is where that hot scene I described above appears.
There are a couple others, I can't recall right now, they're buried in the stack. Maybe I'll discuss them in another post.

One More Dance
File under: TV obsessions
I don't watch a whole lot of TV, but there are a few shows I watch religiously. One of those shows is Dancing With The Stars. This season has proven to be the most exciting season we've seen so far.
I picked my favorites early. Albert Reed, a male model is a total ham but also a talented dancer. He has good energy. But he got eliminated during week 2. Sabrina Bryan, a Cheetah Girl who I'd never heard of but after a couple weeks of watching her dance, I thought she would go a long way. She didn't. She got eliminated in week 6. Jenny Garth, from BH 90210 brought a wholesome quality to the show. Blond, big smile, sweet and nice. She lacked confidence in the beginning but really improved.
Then there's Marie Osmond. How could one not like her? She comes out, this big girl, wide-eyed, totally hopped up on Prozac, with this sisterly good cheer. She's an adequate dancer but not the best. In week 3 she fainted. BOOM, girl went down. She was fine. More important, she's safe to dance the following week. Then she dances quickstep in tribute to her parents. Next day her dad dies. Safe again. Then, news breaks that her kid's in rehab. Yup, safe again.
This week was the semi-finals. Helio Castroneves, a race car driver is in it, along with his partner Julianne Hough, who won last season. Also, Mel B (Scary Spice) and her partner Maksim Chmerikovsky (sp?) who danced with Laila Ali last season. Definitely this season's HOTTEST couple. Both have been scoring consistently well all season. Then there's Jenny who has consistently improved all season and her partner Derek Hough. Really cute, good chemistry together. Last, Marie and her partner Jonathan Roberts who is quite yummy but talks like he needs his adnoids removed.
So, the first couple announced as safe was Marie and Jonathan. Shocking, but not so, really. All those damn Osmonds and their fans. Mel and Maks were then announced as safe. Down to Helio and Julianne and Jennie and Derek. Well, it was a no-brainer, Jenny and Derek ended their run tonight.
I'm not thrilled that they made it so far, I was more irked that Marie got so far on sympathy and uppers. Next week's show will be fun to watch. Marie and Jonathan will be eliminated and then the battle will be on.
Game on!
